“The greatest problem in communication is the illusion that it has been accomplished.” — George Bernard Shaw
Clarity is one of the most underrated communication skills. When our message is rushed, vague or incomplete, we create doubt in the minds of our prospects and clients, leading to hesitation. Clear communication creates confidence. And confident prospects and clients make decisions.
Here’s how to communicate with clarity:
- Slow down your pace. It gives your listener time to absorb your message.
- Use simple, direct language. Clarity is not simplicity; it’s precision.
- Confirm next steps. A clear ending prevents confusion later.
- Check understanding, not agreement. These are not the same thing.
Try it this week: End each call by confirming one next step, even if it seems obvious.
